Men Steal the Spotlight on the Emmys Red Carpet

While Hollywood awards ceremonies often place a spotlight on the female stars’ gowns, this year’s Emmys red carpet, held at LA’s Peacock Theater, showcased an unexpected sartorial shift. Men emerged as the evening’s fashion trailblazers, embracing bold and innovative choices that stood out amid a sea of elegant but more predictable gowns.

Classic menswear looks, such as those worn by Ramy Youssef, Joshua Jackson, Lamorne Morris, and Jeremy Allen White, maintained their polished appeal with traditional tuxedos. However, it was the daring ensembles that truly captivated attention.

Andrew Scott, the Irish actor known for his distinctive style, broke with convention by donning a low-cut ruffled black shirt paired with a dramatic wide-lapeled Vivienne Westwood jacket. Meanwhile, Tyler James Williams of “Abbott Elementary” turned heads in a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo shirt that pushed the boundaries of classic cocktail attire with its sleeveless design.

This year, it seems the men of the Emmys were not just attendees but style innovators, proving that red carpet fashion is not just a female domain.

At the recent awards, fashion was on full display, with attendees embracing bold and innovative choices. Chris Perfetti, co-star of Williams, made a statement with his wide-legged, floor-length trousers paired with a flamboyant shirt from Christian Siriano’s Spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. Dan Levy, the awards’ co-host, also drew inspiration from the runway, opting for a sleek Loewe shirt featuring a sculptural, structured collar.

Cummerbunds, traditionally a symbol of formality, were given a fresh twist. Alan Cumming of “The Traitors” fame transformed his cummerbund into a dramatic train that extended from his cream Teddy Vonranson jacket, even doubling as a scarf. Meanwhile, “Fellow Travelers” stars Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey used cummerbunds to add sophistication to their ensembles, with Bailey’s accessory perfectly complementing the silky, chest-baring shirt of his Giorgio Armani outfit.

The evening also saw a playful use of accessories, with lapel pins and brooches adding a touch of individuality. Bold colors emerged as another key trend, with several stars making striking fashion statements. Aaron Moten of “Fallout” stood out in a vibrant all-red Kenzo suit featuring a Nehru collar. Bowen Yang, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor for “Saturday Night Live,” opted for a cream Bode suit jacket layered over a vivid red tasseled top. Meanwhile, Finn Bennett of “True Detective” embraced a more minimalist approach, forgoing a jacket in favor of a sleek maroon silk mockneck from Saint Laurent.
