I’m a fashion editor who loves shoes. Here are my 11 favorite pairs of 2025

Truly a fashion essential, shoes are one thing you can’t step out of the house without. They’re the item I have the most fun shopping for, and as a fashion editor, I’m always on the hunt for a cute and comfortable pair. In 2024, I found 11 styles that I consider new favorites. Excessive? Possibly. But as you’ll see, each pair serves a purpose.

From everyday sneakers to cozy winter boots to chic ballet flats, these are styles that speak to current fashion but are, ultimately, quite timeless. Among my picks you’ll find heritage brands like Adidas, Frye and Dr. Martens, plus innovative names like Rothy’s and Commbi. Prepare to step into the new year in style with these stylish women’s shoes.

Ugg Women’s Classic Mini Dippers

My most-worn shoes this fall and winter, these platform Ugg boots never fail to keep my feet warm and toasty. While the Tazz booties had their moment, I love the neutral look of the Classic Mini Dippers. They’re the perfect boots to throw on with jeans or leggings for a casual day. The neoprene shaft gives the design a sporty touch, while the suede uppers stay true to the classic Ugg look. They run a bit large, so there’s plenty of room to wear thick socks to add some extra warmth in freezing temps.

Adidas Originals Samba OG Shoes

Adidas Samba sneakers were the defining shoe of 2024. Whether in classic black and white or with colored stripes, the unisex sneakers simply go with everything. According to fashion experts I spoke with, their versatility is exactly why they’re so popular. The low-profile sneakers are perfect for “a put-together look that’s still comfortable,” according to stylist Katie Schuppler. I opted for the burgundy-striped version to add a pop of color to my usual black ensembles.

Naturalizer 27 Edit Carla Flats

These sleek, stylist-approved ballet flats are worth breaking in. While they weren’t the most comfortable straight from the box (let’s be real, flats rarely are), once they softened up, the padded footbeds and square toe boxes provided plenty or comfort to wear all day. I have a wider foot and didn’t have any issue with pinched toes in this style. The rich chocolate brown is a nice alternative to black, and the flats instantly elevate the simplest outfits. They come in a variety of colors, including trendy metallic finishes and rhinestone-encrusted styles that make a statement.
