Known for its viral collaborations and size-inclusive range, Skims has become a go-to for its comfy yet stylish basics like tees, loungewear and intimates, along with its waist-snatching shapewear. Everyone from my 60-something mom to teens on TikTok shop the brand, so I decided it was time to give one of its most popular bodysuits a try. But at $70, the price seemed a bit steep. So I hit the web and found a comparable style on Amazon that’s less than half the price. I’ve been testing and comparing both styles to see which one is actually worth your money.

One of the highlights of wearing a bodysuit is that you don’t have to worry about uncomfortable bunching or the risk of your top coming untucked, which was true for the Skims and Amazon bodysuits. Both were perfectly comfortable to wear all day. The body-con styles hugged the body and felt supportive, but not as tight or restrictive as a piece of shapewear. I could go braless in both styles and felt supported, and I also tried wearing them with a seamless bra. Because the material of the Skims bodysuit is a bit thinner, you could still see the outline of the bra a bit.
The Skims and Amazon bodysuits were nearly identical in silhouette. They both have crew necklines, although the Skims bodysuit has a visible seam here and the Amazon bodysuit does not. I tried a size small in both styles and they ran true to size. They were the same length in the body, but the Skims bodysuit had longer arms by about two inches.

They both offer a seamless look thanks to their thong style back, so you don’t have to worry about visible panty lines. They also have snap closures at the crotch to make it easier to get the bodysuits on. Any bodysuit-wearer will know this is also important when it comes time to use the restroom. While this area can be the most uncomfortable part about wearing a bodysuit (who wants small snaps riding up their crotch!?), there was enough length on both styles that it wasn’t an issue.
