Over the years, I’ve made countless purchases on Amazon, from everyday essentials to the occasional wardrobe update. But when I came across the Orolay Hooded Mountain Parka, I knew I had stumbled upon one of my best buys yet. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, though. Orolay is the brand behind the infamous “Amazon Coat” — the Thickened Down Jacket that went viral and now boasts more than 20,000 glowing, five-star reviews. While I didn’t quite love the look of that particular jacket (I know, I know, it’s a cult classic!), I had long been curious about the brand’s offerings.
What drew me to the Orolay Hooded Mountain Parka, priced at $120, was its more refined, stylish silhouette, which seemed more in line with my personal taste. I’ve now been wearing this winter coat for over a month, braving the biting cold of New York and even taking it abroad, and it has proven itself both functional and fashionable. With spring still a couple of months away, now is the perfect time to grab a winter coat that will keep you warm for the remainder of the season.
So, why should you consider adding this jacket to your cart? Read on for my full review of the Orolay Hooded Mountain Parka, and why it’s more than just a viral trend — it’s a practical, stylish winter essential. And the best part? It’s currently on sale.

What I liked about it
It’s thoughtfully designed — and has lots of pockets
One thing I love about this quilted parka, which is crafted from polyester, is how thoughtfully designed it is. Between the double-closure style and the rib knit cuffs, it truly feels like every detail was carefully considered, making this coat a pleasure to slip on and wear. In addition to being machine-washable, the parka has an adjustable buckle tape hood, a drawcord-adjustable hem and adjustable cuff tabs, which allow you to adjust the coat’s fit. The hood also has removable fur. I don’t care much for fur-trim hoods, so I removed this part of the coat straightaway. However, It’s nice to know that if I change my mind or want to change the look of the coat, I can easily put it back on.

The parka has a ton of well-placed, zippered pockets — five in total — which I absolutely love. Between the two regular side pockets, two chest pockets and the hidden zip pocket, there’s plenty of space for me to stash all my small belongings like my iPhone 16 Pro, glasses, portable charger, lip balm, AirPods and wallet. Having this number of pockets at my disposal also meant that I didn’t have to carry a handbag around during my recent trip to England because all my necessary items could be tucked into my coat. The pockets are also lined with fleece, which is a nice touch and great for those days when you’re not wearing gloves.
It’s stylish and flattering, though slightly bulky
Though this parka is on the heavier side, its bulkiness doesn’t take away from how streamlined and stylish it looks, especially in the White color I got. I’ve received several compliments on this coat since I started wearing it, and I have to admit, I now reach for this parka more than any other coat in my wardrobe. The Hooded Mountain Parka is available in four colors, including an on-trend red, and in sizes XS to XL — I have this coat in a medium. I’m almost five foot, five inches tall, and the coat falls at the perfect length for me, just past the hip. I also have longer arms, so I was happy to see that the sleeves hit at the right point, too.
As someone who does most of their shopping online, I always feel a tad worried about how something will look once it actually arrives at my home, so I was pleased when I unpacked this coat and saw that, minus a slight variation in color, it looked exactly as I was hoping and expecting it to. In person, this coat is more of an off-white or an eggshell white than a bright white, which is how the coat came across to me in pictures. Despite the color being slightly different, I’m not disappointed. The color is flattering and a nice change from my last winter coat, which was black, and it’s stayed pretty clean-looking so far.
It keeps me warm and dry

Truthfully, I couldn’t have picked a better coat for this winter or to take with me on my recent trip. This parka does a fantastic job of keeping me warm, and some of the remarks I’ve received about this coat are about how warm it looks. According to the description on the Amazon page, the coat’s fabric is designed to “withstand high winds, light rain and snow,” which, from my experience so far, checks out. I’ve managed to stay warm, dry (thanks to the coat’s water repellency and hood) and comfortable in the face of freezing, rainy, windy weather, which describes almost every day I was in England.
What I didn’t like about it
The fit can be snug at times
While I wouldn’t necessarily size up, I did find that the fit could be a bit tight in the chest and arms, depending on what I was wearing underneath and whether or not the coat was zipped and buttoned all the way up. Though the snugness was never to the point where I was dying to take off the coat, it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re someone who likes to wear a lot of layers or if your sweaters tend to veer on the chunkier side.
Bottom line
The Orolay Hooded Mountain Parka truly exceeded my expectations, which is why I fully understand all the hype behind the brand’s other coat. I got exactly what I was looking for in a coat, right down to the style, and at $120 (less when it’s on sale), it’s well worth the money. If you’re looking for a coat to get you through the rest of the season, I’m casting my vote for this one.
